Our Chickens

So, after checking out the page providing some general history of the Serama, a quick lesson on feather genetics, and some hatching tips, here are few of our birds—so you can see what you might hatch. Possible feather types include smooth, silkied, frizzle, and sizzle. You will never have to worry about getting a frazzle, as the flock as it is cannot produce one.
Note: My chickens aren’t showing off their posture. The only way I could get them to hold still long enough to take a photo was to put them on an uneven stump.

Twix is a beautiful gray rooster. He’s the largest of our breeding males, and he’s very proud of himself, even though he ‘s not the boss.
This is Timmy. For scale, Timmy is about 2/3 Twix’s size. Also, he IS the boss. Timmy has silkied feathers. Although you can’t see from the photo, his black tail feathers have a lovely green shimmer to them when the light hits right.
Inky is our youngest breeder, and he isn’t quite done growing yet. Although his flock mates have figured out how to be roosters, Inky still has a couple months of growing to do. He also has silkied feathers. He is actually a white chicken with a few brown feathers on his wings and black peppering his tail. The camera made his feathers look less white than they are.
Raisin is one of our frizzle chickens. She’s friends with Batman and Mr. Gray, who are also hens. The kids name them when they hatch.
This is Chippy. She’s one of our youngest hens in the breeding flock. She is hatch mates with Inky. She’s also not fully mature—probably another month or two to full adulthood. Once again, the lighting wasn’t ideal. Her feathers are actually a stark black and white pattern.
Broccoli is a very sweet hen. She’s curious and is one of the first to try new things. She also likes to be snuggled. Her feathers are really cool. Many of her feathers are tipped in white, so she looks like somebody spattered her with white paint.
