Alpaca Fertilizer

For plants only!

Alpacas are fertilizer pellet producers on four legs.  Their superior digestive system is incredibly efficient—it destroys all manner of seeds they consume, and grinds their food down into well balanced plant fertilizer.  They spend over two days digesting their food.  Seriously, this stuff is awesome.  As a “cold” fertilizer it can be applied directly to your plants—no need for composting.  It does not have a strong “poop” smell—you need a big old pile of it before you start wondering where the poop is.  It is rich in N-P-K, but not so high in nitrogen that it burns your plants’ roots.  It also helps retain water, which I find especially nice for house plants.

The poop can be applied directly, either sprinkling the pellets around, or you can soak the pellets to create a liquid fertilizer.  I have included some extra large compostable tea bags if you wish to try the liquid fertilizer route.  Soak the poop in the bag in a jug of water for 24 hours and feed your plants as needed.  When you’re done with your tea bag (which you can use several times), just bury the whole in in the ground near whatever plant needs a boost.
